Peter's work is representative of the daily life of African culture. His art covers a wide varity of human and animal life and is often a blend of reality and fantasy. He paints and creates sculptures consisiting of plastic, wire iron, and paper mache but he is best known for his stone sculptures. Peter's mediums include soapstone, springstone, serpinetine, marble, dormite, and granite and he is able to turn these solide substances into smooth lines and captivating forms that reflect the emotion and atmosphere that is Malawi.
It is not his art alone that makes Peter's contribution to the Museums of Malawi so important; he greatly inspires the people that study under him. His dedication has transformed the Museum into a Mecca for ambitious artists aspiring to make art their career. Peter sees this aquisition of art skills as a way to combat poverty by providing the youth with a livelihood. He hopes that his work will increase the rpeutation of Malawi on a global scale resulting in increased tourism and a larger market for Malawian artists.
